We have some amazing news to announce that one of our fabulous volunteers Maureen Weston attended the award ceremony on the 4th June 2025 to receive the Rose of Northamptonshire award of #Volunteering services!
We could not be prouder of the work that Maureen does for the community as a whole and a small part of that is with Volunteer Action – I have included our nomination details that we submitted to #RoseofNorthamptonshire awards:
Maureen has been volunteering at VA for over 18 years, she has been a trustee of the charity, regular cake baker, volunteer driver and befriender to several vulnerable
members of our community and a weekly Friday office volunteer. In addition to this Maureen is head chef for our annual Christmas meal for isolated over people in the rural location of East Northants North. catering for over 45 people each year – this keeps growing. Maureen honestly can not do enough for the community through her varied volunteering at VA. However she also volunteers weekly at Oxfam in Oundle and runs PHAB Club a volunteer run charity for adults with learning disabilities. She also heads up the Oundle yarn bombers who decorate the town on special occasions bring cheer to all and was part of the The Longest Yarn exhibition, travelling to Europe and back. She’s a true community gem!
